he Biochar market is still quite young, many producers are ahead of the market in their region, I’m starting a new series where we will look at alternative revenue streams (upgrade options) that we can implement to now to help fund development of the biochar markets and also de-risk long term revenue.
We are kicking off with Activated Carbon (AC), a well-established, multi-billion dollar market where Biochar producers hold a unique, strategic feedstock advantage for market entry.
The AC market is being hit on both the supply (enviromental and regulatory) and demand side (PFAS, Sodium Ion Batteires, ESG), driving up the price of biobased AC, offereing a window that Biochar producers are able to take advantage of.
There are a lot of uncertaintires and risks that will need to be evalauted for each site, feedstock, regulatory requirements, impact to carbon credits, capex, etc, but it’s a exciting opportunity that we think deserves a look.
You can download the report below, from the Lyntra website (no paywall or sign up) or reach out and I’ll send it over.
Biochar – Capturing the multi-billion dollar activated carbon market shift
